Get To Know Us

Choosing a school for your child is an important decision. As part of your search for the right school, we encourage you to learn as much as possible about Waldorf education and Four Winds Waldorf School. Our educational philosophy and programs are significantly different from most mainstream educational choices—backed by time-proven success worldwide and cutting-edge child development research—but different nonetheless. It is important that you understand the underlying precepts of a Waldorf school and carefully consider whether they resonate with your own vision for your child’s education and your family’s values. This website contains a wealth of valuable background information on the Waldorf philosophy and the Four Winds community. We strongly encourage you to take a moment to read through the site and especially the Frequently Asked Questions for a quick overview.

Visit the School

Interested parents should attend one of our monthly School Tours or seasonal Open Houses. Please refer to our News and Events section for dates and times, and then contact the school to register. If you are unable to attend one of these scheduled events, you may contact the school to arrange a private visit.

Submit an Application

To begin the application process, please complete an application and submit it along with the $60 application fee. Transcripts and/or a Recommendation Form should be requested from previous schools attended. If applicable, please include results of diagnostic testing or evaluations from specialized services when submitting an application. Applications and accompanying documents are carefully reviewed by the Administrator, class teacher, and other faculty members as necessary to gain a full  perspective of the child's unigue gifts and challenges.

The Class Visit

A one or two day class visit is arranged for all prospective students applying for mid-year transfer and for students applying to Grades 1 through 8 for the following school year.  Children applying for next year's Pre-K/Kindergarten Program will be invited to participate in an Applicant's Playgroup rather than make a class visit. A critical step in our admissions process, the class visit or playgroup provides your child with an opportunity to meet his or her teacher and classmates and to experience our program first hand. Likewise, by carefully observing prospective students, teachers can ensure that our school can accommodate each child's gifts, as well as potential challenges.

Acceptance, Forms and Fees

Acceptance will be based on such factors as the child’s physical, social and emotional readiness, a healthy learning ability, and the parents’ willingness to support, at home and at school, the principles of Waldorf education. Upon acceptance, parents will be sent an enrollment packet including an enrollment contract and a number of school and health related forms to be completed, signed and returned to the school. Students may begin attending classes when all forms are complete and fees are paid.
