Over the summer, Four Winds Waldorf School offers several special “Waldorf-style” camps, open to the community at large. All camps are conducted at our school, with the exception of our Outdoor Adventure Camps, which include various off-site locations (see details below).
Our unique camps and excursions for 2010 are described below.

Note: Dress for the weather and bring food for a mid-morning snack and water bottle. Students enrolled in the Outdoor Day Camp ending at 2:30 should also bring a sack lunch. Please administer sunscreen before arriving. A Minimum five children will be required for each camp session. All sessions have maximum sizes. So please register early. Cancellation Policy: 25% non-refunded registration fee with less than one week notice.

Sibling Discount: 15% for second, third and fourth child in the family.
Bring-a-friend Discount: both you and your friend will receive a 15% discount if you register together and register by May 31st, 2010. Please note your friend’s name on your registration form in the space provided.
Children will experience circle time, songs, stories and activities in our spacious outdoor play area. There will be a theme for each week. Four Winds early childhood faculty will be leading the camp this summer. Sign up for individual weeks or sign up for all six and get a 10% discount ($600 for all six weeks). Weeks 1 through 3 will be led by Cynthia Vargas. Weeks 4 through 6 will be led by Angela Palmquist. Both are currently assistants for our mixed age kindergarten classes.
Participants will have fun experimenting with dramatic play through games and movement, and various ways to act out stories and songs. John Keeney teaches fifth grade at Four Winds and brings years of acting and theatre experience in Chicago, along with his musical talents.
Our woodworking teacher, Bruce Cooper, will be leading the trip. Enjoy spectacular scenery and a full range of recreational activities at Devils Lake State Park, located 2 miles south of Baraboo and about 40 miles northwest of downtown Madison, WI. Three days and two nights of camping, hiking and canoeing, including a day of rock climbing with an experienced leader from Essential Skills Outdoor School.

Instructors Thea Olsen and Angela Palmquist will share their combined knowledge and love of the outdoors with an exciting week of educational and fun experiences. Bring your music skills to a new level as you work with our wonderful Orchestra teacher, Honna Austin. Ms. Austin received her B.F.A. degree from Northern Illinois University in Violin Performance and Painting. She went on to receive her M.F.A. from Cornell University and her Suzuki Teaching Certificate from Ithaca College under Stanford Reuning. Honna has taught privately for more than twelve years and currently teaches music at Four Winds Waldorf.
Meet twice a week and enjoy our beautiful outdoor space and indoor classrooms through plenty of play time, circle time with songs, rhymes and stories. Instructor Christine Benton teaches a Four Winds Parent-Child class and has finished Lifeways Early Childhood Training. She is ready to share her enthusiasm with this group this summer.
Calling all Thespians, clowns and acrobats! During the first part of the day, campers will hone their acting and performing skills. For the second half of the day, you have a choice! In Circus Arts, you will learn acrobatics, juggling and other circus skills. If you choose Sets & Costumes, you will work on the sets and costumes for the Performance Arts Camp Performance on Friday July 30th. Native speaking and experienced Spanish instructor, Maria Elena Bisabarros will share Latin American culture. Senora Bisabarros grew up in Spain, has a Ph.D. in Spanish language and literature and has taught for more than 20 years.
