From the moment you walk through the doors of Four Winds Waldorf School, you’ll sense the calm, artistic influences which permeate a Waldorf school. Hallways and classrooms are hand-painted with beautiful washes of color. Richly imaginative student artwork and class projects are on display. A spacious Community Room on the second floor fills with music during our Strings and Orchestra classes and is where a number of community meetings, lectures and events are held.
The building itself, formerly a pipefitters’ union office, has seen many improvements since we acquired the property in 1999, including the installation of solar panels, upgraded interior lighting, and the full conversion of our first "green" classroom; Sunrise Garden.

The kitchen has recently undergone significant renovation with the expert assistance of one of our parents and the donation of gently used cupboards, a granite counter top and all the appliances.
We are grateful to be situated on five acres of open and wooded land in Warrenville, Illinois. Our campus offers abundant space for outdoor learning and exploration by younger and older students alike. The wooded forest is filled with trails that lend themselves to lovely nature hikes and adventures. An empty retention pond serves as a terrific sledding hill providing the best recess activity in snowy winter months.

A lovely woven wattle fence was added to our playground at a workshop in October 2010. It brings not only a touch of English charm and beauty to our grounds but additional safety for our youngest students.

Our front meadow is home to a Peace Pole, exclaiming “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in eight different languages. The peace pole was donated by the grandparents of two students and honored in a ceremony during our 2011 Mayfaire. Four Winds Waldorf School is proud to be a participant in the world-wide peace pole project.
We are dedicated to honoring our native landscape as can be seen by the Four Winds Prairie Garden adjacent to our front entrance. Our parking lot planters and the beds along our school building are filled primarily with native plants and grasses which provide a variety of looks throughout the year.
